sand rail in the desertThe ultimate desert race, known as King of the Hammers, returns to Johnson Valley, CA this February. The 13th annual King of the Hammers week begins Friday February 1st, 2019 and continues through Saturday, February 9th, 2019.

The King of the Hammers is considered the toughest one-day off road race on the planet. Hundreds of racers showcase their skills in desert racing and rock crawling through a series of events held throughout the week, including the Smittybilt Every Man Challenge, King of The Motos, and the Vision X Shootout. All of the exciting action leads up to the official King of the Hammers race on Saturday, February 10th.

Erik Miller from Cumberland, Maryland was last year’s winner, and earned his second King’s crown after competing against the largest number of racers in King of the Hammers history. The 176 mile long course included three laps through open desert and several rocky canyons. To make his victory even sweeter, Erik asked his girlfriend to marry him while on the winner’s podium. (Of course, she said yes!)

Over the last decade, King of the Hammers has evolved from 12 teams racing for bragging rights to more than 300 teams competing in front of over 35,000 fans in person and nearly 500,000 people watching online. Due to the overwhelming success of the event, Hammerking Productions created an ULTRA4 Racing Series of seven races held across the country, which are all qualifiers for the King of The Hammers race.

Hammerking has also created a unique racing class, known as the ULTRA4 class. These cars all must be capable of four wheel drive, but otherwise they come in all shapes and sizes. Even further, Hammerking Productions has produced five award-winning feature films in order to help shine a spotlight on this exhilarating form of racing.

King of the Hammers spectators will all descend upon Mean’s Dry Lake Bed in Johnson Valley for the 2017 event. This area, also known as “Hammertown”, will be the central event hub and home to the race teams, vendors, and Hammerking headquarters. All of the racing action begins and ends here, and there will also be two live jumbotrons for spectators who don’t have vehicles to go to prime viewing locations.

King of the Hammers RV rentals are an extremely popular option for fans who want to camp for the whole week. There will be a vendor in Hammertown where teams and individuals can pay for water and dump services, and firewood can also be purchased on site. Our incredible selection of RV rentals in Ontario will help everyone in your group enjoy a break from the desert event’s outdoor conditions.

Tickets to King of the Hammers are only $20 for the week if pre-ordered and $25 at the gate, and children 10 and under are free. Hammerking Productions also recommends that all visitors review the spectator rules before attending.
